Eleanor Perkins Cole passed away at Our Lady of the Lake on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born on April 6, 1921 in Smithfield, NC, to Norris Lynwood Perkins and Pearl Stancil Perkins. She attended Women’s College of the University of North Carolina and worked at the Fairchild Aircraft Factory during World War II. She met her late husband Robert Edward Cole at a USO dance and later joined his family in Baton Rouge. She and Bob worked to bring the late Reverend Billy Graham to LSU and helped found The Chapel on the Campus with dear friends Don and Mary Tabb and Rolfe and Dot McCollister. The couple later retired to their beloved “Dream’s End” in Navarre Beach, FL, where their frequent visitors received a warm welcome. Eleanor is survived by her four children Robin Roy (David), Eddie Cole, Ginger McCullough (David), and Candy Cole Capek. Her grandchildren are Kelly Wood, Todd Cameron, Kimberly Cassibry, Casey Palascak (Joe), John Cassibry, Rob Cole (Anita), Ragan Roy Garcia (Chris), Rikki Capek Wilson (Kyle), Kai Capek, and Robin Hays (Kevin). Her great-grandchildren include Taylor Wood, MacKenzie Wood, Zarina Cole, and Cyra Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Norris Lynwood Perkins, Jr. and Edwin Roberson Perkins, her husband Bob, and her son-in-law John Folk Cassibry, Sr. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, from 6 to 8 pm and on Friday, May 18, from 9 am until the funeral service begins there at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Eleanor be remembered through donations to Charlie’s Place, where she volunteered by playing piano (Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, 70806, 225-334-7494, www.alzbr.org). “To the non-believer, death is the end; to the believer, death is just the beginning!”

Bob and Eleanor Cole were dear friends to my parents, Clyde and Marjorie Tucker, for many years. Although my father is deceased, my mother still speaks of Eleanor fondly. Both my brother, Rudy, and I and our families lift up your family during this difficult time. May God bless you all.

Eleanor Cole and Bob were our first neighbors when Liz and I moved to Woodstone subdivision. They were the epitome of neighborly and showed their Christian character every day we saw them. Thank goodness that my life intersected with the Coles. May God bless your family as Eleanor reunites with her beloved husband
